With 10.000 registered congress participants in 2009, the ERA-EDTA Congress is Europe’s most significant nephrology meeting.This year’s congress is an outstanding occasion to promote The NGAL Test - the company’s forthcoming clinical chemistry test for the diagnosis and management of acute kidney injury.

The scientific program of the event aims at covering the various aspects of basic and clinical nephrology as well as the most recent researches in the field.The poster entitled “Urinary and plasma NGAL levels reflect the severity of acute kidney injury” (Sa070) will be presented by Head of R&D Kristian Bangert at the Poster Area of the International Congress Centre Munich on Saturday, June 26, in two official poster sessions from 10.30 to 11.15 hrs and from 16.15 to 17.00 hrs.

NGAL and The NGAL Test

NGAL is a novel biomarker for diagnosing acute kidney injury (AKI). The key advantage of NGAL is that it responds earlier than other renal status markers and shows a proportionate response to injury.

The NGAL Test will be available for a wide range of clinical chemistry analyzers and will be launched in the beginning of 2011. The NGAL Test will be able to determine NGAL levels in both urine and plasma within a standard routine timeframe.
